DS8500/12 - new Ipad - not charging

Dear All,

The title pretty much explains my problem. I have a New IPAD (the latest 2012 retina device), IOS 5.1.1.

The DS8500/12 does not charge my IPAD, while listening to music. Is this something that can be fixed and/or tweaked that way, that 8500 would provide electricity to my New IPAD? e.g. any extra/newer connector block between the 8500 chassis connector and IPAD?

It seems that it is trying to charge my IPAD for few seconds, then not charging message comes to the upper right corner of my IPAD.

Yes, That was my idea as well. Hopefully somebody nice Philips person could confirm if this unit is working as intended (meaning no charging support for new IPAD), because I´ve understood as well that the other IOS devices are charging ok in this dock.

It could be also that the unit I purchased is malfunctioning. The reason why I bought this older unit was basically it was the only one in white colour and it has a pretty decent sound also. Anyone, any ideas?

Ok, but does it harm my IPAD3, if I use that dock as a amp/speaker?, i.e. does the -not charging- cause something to my new IPAD3?

I bought a DS8550/10. It charged my iPhone 4s and 3gs but did not charge the iPad3. same as you - it blinked a charging symbol for about half a second and then said 'Not Charging'
I have returned it.
Dissapointed that it gets advertsied as compatible with iPads but will not charge the iPad 3.

Did you get any resolution from Philips?

Dear Philips,
I note the thread about the DS8500 not charging iPad3s. I joined the Forum to try and get answers about a recently bought a DS8550/10 that charges my iPhones (4s and 3gs) bit not my iPad3.

I have returned the Philips DS8550 because of the iPad3 not charging.
Please tel me if this is a fault with the unit I bought or will all DS8550s not charge iPad3s. If the latter is the case why are retailers still advertising DS8550s as being compatible with iPads. Should you not make the shops aware of this if it is the case.

Finally are there anh Philips hardware/firmware updates that will fix this and have you told Apple. Are they working on a fix?/

Hi the answer was there in may last year by Philips. Also I would not count on any upgrades hardware or software for this.....shame but

for DS8550, probably its a different story. if it s not charging iPad 3, it can be connection issue.
n notice some of the users took it to repair and it works afterwards...
