Why? If firmware updates can't do that something is really wrong.

I've yet to hear a good excuse why it can't record from the EPG. It means all UK customers cannot use this facility.

I paid £60 for an external drive which is now no use to me.

Enable recording with DVB-EPG:
Yes please, then we do not need to use the slow, unaccesible and incomplete IP-EPG.

Disable encrypting:
This will not happen, to my knowledge encryption is mandatory in order to comply with Digital Rights Management requirements.

As a work-around you may try to re-install the channels but select a country for which the IP_EPG is supported (e.g. Ireland).

PS You probably need to manually install the "UK apps" in Nettv.
