Cinavia watermark content protection
AACS (Advanced Access Content System), a Blu-ray format consortium, requires manufacturers to implement the Cinavia watermark content protection solution from Verance into all the Blu-ray players and Blu-ray HCS products.
What is Cinavia from Verance and its result?
Cinavia is a watermark content protection solution provided by Verance. It is a mandatory requirement applied in all Blu-ray players and Blu-ray HCS system from Feb 2012 onwards, according to the new AACS LA (Advanced Access Content System), a Blu-ray format consortium).
With this watermark content protection, users can enjoy any original commercial movie titles in the market. Unauthorized copies of movie titles will not be able to play back by the player. There will be an error message displayed on screen.

Is the Cinavia watermark content protection only applied in Philips Blu-ray player and Blu-ray HCS system?
No. This mandatory requirement from AACS LA (Blu-ray format consortium) applies to all Blu-ray players and HCS system in the market. It is not restricted to Philips brand.
Is the Cinavia watermark content protection only applied to players shipped after Feb 2012?
All the Blu-ray players and Blu-ray HCS system shipped in Feb 2012 onwards include this Cinavia watermark content protection feature.
