E5 Connection Issues & Bass-Treble Indication Levels Missing

Am faced with the following issues on my PHILIPS E5 surround system.

    1. Treble/Bass settings > I try to set the Bass & Treble, however there is no indication either on the set or on the TV which gives shows me the maximum/minimum levels, except that there is LED flickers when I try to adjust the Bass/Treble.

    2. Volume Indicators : I cannot find volume levels either on the set or on my TV when I try to increase/decrease the volume unlike HTL9100 which I have been using since the last 2 years.

    3. The signal disconnects when I change from the Blu-ray Player to set-top-box or from the Set-Top-box to the Blu-ray Player. I have both connected through HDMI.

    Hello Ben!

Welcome to the forum and thank you for reaching out to us!

1 & 2. This is normal, there are no indicators for bass&treble or the volume.
    3. Which signal is it that disconnects? Can you tell me which devices you are using, how you have everything set up and which cables you are using to connect everything?

    Many thanks,
    Philips – Katerina

E5 Connection Issues & Bass-Treble Indication Levels Missing

    Hi Katrina,

The link that you sent me does not exist.

Does this mean that these are inherent product deficiencies and hence cannot be rectified.

Moreover, the signal disconnects to the surround speakers when I switch from ST Box to Philips Blu-ray Player or vice versa. I have used HDMI Cables (ARC) on both units.

When I watch a movie, if there is silence for a few minutes in the movie, the lights start blinking & once there is either music or speech, the sound cuts-off to the surround speakers & the signal is disconnected. I have to switch off the unit & switch it on again for the signal to reconnect

I bought this unit, hoping that the quality would be good, unfortunately am terribly disappointed.

    Hi,

Moreover, the signal disconnects to the surround speakers when I switch from ST Box to Philips Blu-ray Player or vice versa. I have used HDMI Cables (ARC) on both units.

When I watch a movie, if there is silence for a few minutes in the movie, the lights start blinking & when the music or speech resumes, the Center speaker works fine, however the signal to the surround speakers disconnects. I have to switch off the unit & switch it on again for the signal to reconnect to the surround speakers.

    How can this be fixed?

    regards,

    Ben

    Hello Ben!

I have answered your other posts that I think you refer to the link that I sent you in a private message.

Is your device up to date when it comes to the firmware? And have you performed a factory reset? If you haven’t please perform one and see how it goes!

    Regards,
    Philips - Katerina

    Hi Katrina,

I have reset the E5 System to Factory Default, changed all the cables with New Philips HDMI (ARC) cables, however the signal still disconnects to the surround speakers when I either put it on mute while watching a movie to attend to a phone call for a few seconds or switch from Philips Blu-ray Player Digital STB.

Kindly send me a link to the firmware upgrade.

    Regards,

    Ben.
