    Post Problems with BDP7700

    Hi,

I just got the new BDP7700.
The first hours with this device have been really shocking. It crashed so many times that I wonder, if this has really been evaluated before throwing it to the market. The firmware update online was not possible. Anyhow, after downloading the new firmware to USB and executing the update this way, it is now much better. Though still not very good.

Besides some trouble which occurs from time to time especially when using NetTV or when streaming from a NAS System (WD MyBook Live), there are still some issues, which I would really like to have fixed.
    1. When switching on the player and touching the open button afterwards, it needs definitely too much time until the disk is ejected. Sometimes it doesn't work at all and I have to use the remote control.
    2. When press (or touch) eject directly, it works well. It is not so easy to find the button as it is invisible while the player is switched off but that's acceptable. But the problem is, that I cannot close the drawer anymore with the button. I have to use the remote again.
    3. I cannot use the USB keyboard to enter the WiFi key. As my WiFi key is quite long, it with the remote is not very comfortable. Even though I wouldn't have to do it very often I haven't had the nerves yet to do it.
    4. I many cases I haven't been able to fast forward and sometimes even to pause the playback. This happens in NetTV (I think, ARD Mediathek but I'm not sure) and with many video formats on my NAS system. Some of them are not supported at all but I don't have details. Is it planned to improve the supported formats and the issues with the online streams in coming firmware updates?

I hope that a firmware update will fix most the the issues soon.

    Best regards,
    Michael

    Hi,

thanks for the fast reply. I did that and as I wrote, it helped a lot compared to the original situation. However, the mentioned issues are still there. They are not critical and acceptable due to the fact that this is a brand new model but I hope, they will be solved with future updates.

    Hi.

After doing this the "freeze" problem is much better, but not compleatly solved. I still have to pull the cord at least one or two times when trying to play mediafiles over DLNA. It starts buffering , but gets cought in a infinite loop and does not come out of it again. The "yellow" ikon that bounces back and fourth in the bottom of the screen just wont stop,....... Are you working on a new software update that we can expect soon?

I bought a blu-ray seven days ago, and consider that the level of firmware (V3.34) embarrassing. I confirm everything written above. Blu-ray becomes unstable and very slow to respond to commands. Many times I had to turn off the hardware with power to bring him back to life. Compared to other equipment (eg Samsung bd-es6000) is the Stone Age.

    Please upgrate it !!!!!!!

    Yes.

The problem is not isolated. In all the forums on this blu-ray is repeated opinions that the software is unstable.

Another problem: I do not understand why the exchange of software requires resetting the settings?!? This is the first device to have at home and I have to perform these steps. which causes all the settings should be made from the beginning.
    It is not user-friendly features!

I write this with sadness :-(, but it is the only device that I bought recently and I really regret this purchase. Was not expecting that the device can be sold with software such poor quality!

It is sad that Philips offers customers a device so underdeveloped and the only advice is: "Please restore factory settings".

And even though a lot of people ("...The first hours with this device have been really shocking. It crashed so many times that I wonder, if this has really been evaluated before throwing it to the market...") wrote that the software is not suitable for use and is unstable, the only advice is: "Please restore factory settings".

    Dear all,
I've bought this device BDP7700 last friday and I am happy untill today. I did not have any freezes and I played DVD's, used NETTV etc. for quite some hours now. I've put an SD card (8Gb) into the back, and did a software update. I've read some different reviews. Some of the positive, and a lot of them very negative. probably most people that write down their experiences are people that have problems with the device. But I didn't have any problems upto today. I will keep you informed if I encounter any problems.

So it must be possible to use this device without problems. Did you (who have problems) insert an SD card? I will keep you informed if I encounter any problems.
