PFL4007 (and PFLxxx7 series ?) power on failure and volume failure

Subject: report results of countermeasures for power on/off failures and volume failures (TV "power off" on its own and volume increases on its own).

    Intro:
Most of the recommended countermeasures, consulting a variety of resources, both from Philips and non-Philips engineers are summarized as follows:
Update the firmware tot the latest one, in this case Q554E-0.100.0.0, better known as version '100'.

    Filtering all complaints:

    1. In most of the cases, the update to the latest firmware version does not solve the problem
    2. In most of the cases, the problem is not reproducible in the lab.
    3. In most of the cases, replacing hardware, does not solve the problem.

    Question
As an engineer myself, I have no access to the technical information of Philips Televisions, hence I cannot judge the technical background of the problem, therefore I ask to Philips engineers to analyse these findings:

    a) The input signal of TV is connected with a modem that acts as an Internet / TV modem installed by the local national provider.

    b) During the period of the observed problems (ON/OFF failure and Volume failure), there was a minor problem reported regarding the signal strength of the signal covering Internet and TV resulting in occasional failures of Internet Interruptions (1 or 2 times per month, 1 or 2 minutes no Internet connection). This occasional problem has been analysed by the Network provider, and the cause is a fluctuating incoming signal, while a stable incoming signal is expected. Finally, a connector outside my home has been replaced, probably failed by oxidation, and since then, the incoming signal remains stable and at the expected level (+/- - 1 dBmV). The internet connection never fails since the connector replacement.

    c) Since point 'b' is solved, the TV does not show any ON/OFF failure or Volume failure at all.

As a result, please comment on this. Could it be that the Power ON/OFF and Volume failures were caused by a fluctuating and/or unstable incoming signal, that at its lowest level has a lower value than the expected lower limit to guarantee smooth operation?

    Thanks.

Regarding the power on/off problems Philips issued a separate FW fix for that. I did not have these problems with my TV running FW 100 but then one weekend I did get them. I installed the Power fix and has since not experienced any such problems.
