The main feature regarding 3D that HDMI 1.4 brings on the table is frame packing (that means packing two frames for both eyes in a single new frame), and more bandwidth. The chip that PS3 is using, despite being HDMI 1.3 is programmable enough that allows to send frame packing correctly. The only limitation of PS3 is that it cannot pass 3D image + HD audio: there is not enough bandwidth. So, only DTS/DD in bluray 3D with PS3...

PS3 supports bluray 3D, at full 1080p/24 Hz.

The crosstalk is due only on the TV. Do not look at the player...

I have the latest PS3 firmware, the latest 46PFL8605H Philips 46" Full HD 1080p software and the 3D kit yet I still can not play Call of Duty Black Ops in 3D.

Please help. This is so frustrating. Im starting to wish I bought a Bravia!

Got it to work by re-detecting display settings in the PS3 setup. So simple. Works a dream. I take back what I said about bravias. I love ambilight. Apologies Philips.

problem is i have a lot of ghosting/crosstalk whe i m playing 3d games at my ps3.

I too have major crosstalk / ghosting problems with 3d on my 46PFL9705. It's head wrecking to watch. Me and my friends get a head splitting headache trying to watch 3d on it. Some scenes are so illegible with too much double vision, to the point that one cannot visually comprehend the scene. This applies both in gaming and blu-rays.

I distinctly remember the advertising and marketing of Philips, comparing their 3d with plasma TVs and claiming with charts and bullet points the superiority of their 3d TVs in comparison to the competition.

Well, I have watched and compared the 3D on other LCD and Plasma TVs to my Philips TV.

Let me say that I am a very big fan of Philips. All the consumer electronics I buy are Philips branded. I have spent many many thousands on Philips products. For the last 25 years all my TVs, DVD recorders, Ambilights, rechargeable batteries, shavers, Pronto remote controls have all been from Philips. And always I buy the best and most expensive of what Philips has to offer. The same goes with all my friends and family. I buy for them and always suggest and buy Philips.

But in this case I am very very disappointed!!! The 3d of my Philips TV is plain unwatchable. I have compared it to Sony, LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sharp and it's plain simply just the worst by far!

What happened to all the claims from Philips that their 3d is superior? What happened to the claims of Philips that their 3d is better than 3d on plasmas? Was it a lie?

Will I buy again from Philips? Will I keep recommending Philips? Well at this stage I have major doubts!

I would like an official response from Philips as to what you intend to do about this horrendously bad crosstalk which renders 3d unwatchable.

Can a future firmware upgrade improve / correct the amount of crosstalk? Can other future produced glasses impove the picture? Are you working on a solution? Is there a solution to this problem or should we simply write off our TV's 3D part? Should I just sell my TV and go and buy a different brand if I want to watch proper 3d?

I am looking forward to an official and complete reply from Philips on this matter.

i m also very annoyed about the poor 3d quality of my philips tv.
i have done a panel repair through the philips service and the pictures looking better but crosstalk is still there.
i m not sure about that my glasses are defect because the lot of ghosting..
is philips working on a better software or are the problems state of the art for philips 3d tv.

I would like to concur with Gad's post above!

I am a loyal Philips customer.

Having covered all the bases with numerous replacements, cables and extra purchases we can confirm that after 4 TV's there is something very wrong.

3D is unwatchable!!!

The issue has been confirmed by shop sales assistants and reps!

I too would like an explanation.

The explanation is simple: they didn't have 3D technology, the other brands were already selling 3D TVs, so they bought technology from another company (xpand) that was integrated in a hurry to some TVs...

So, no local dimming in 3D, no settings for 3D, no conversion of 2D to 3D, ugly cheap-plastic made glasses and a transmitter that you glue on the TV with sticky tape...

Heard it too. When the shutter glasses don't open and close fast enough so you see an image with your right eye, that was meant to be seen only by the left eye and vice versa.

And as long as I read all the complaints on the 3D stuff overhere, no way I am going to spend any money on 3D accesoires like the Philips 3D TV-upgradeset PTA02, Blu-ray players, 3D blu-ray discs etc.
