youtube-app can play youtube videos, but the 'general' tv software can not? Why?
Can someone please explain the logic behind the fact that the youtube-app can play youtube videos, but the 'general' tv software can not?
is it cause, or reason?Last edited by meneerl; 07-24-2012 at 02:30 PM.

Hi,
the YouTube app uses a different codec (which is supported by the TV) than the YouTube website you can open in the "open internet app".

I do not understand this sentence. as = at? as = than?
Anyway; the problem:
On my windows7 laptop in the mediaplayer, I can do a right click 'play with Philips TV'. It plays all kinds of files, mp3, video files, /playlists, but.... the tv won't play a youtube-url.
I really want to be able to play playlists of musicvideos from a real-time editable playlist (at a party for instance) and switch between mp3 and video within a playlist.
My tv can play youtube-files, via the app on nettv. Apparently this is the 'codec' you're talking about.
The question is, why only this conversion inside the youtube app on nettv (which has severe user interface issues)?
Why not have the general tv software do the conversion-routine ("codec") every time it encounters the command to play a youtube file?Last edited by meneerl; 07-26-2012 at 12:10 PM.
