Lost audio input in HTS5563
No sound from TV (40PFL5527) to HTS5563 via HDMI ARC. Brand new units both. Not possible to select "HDMI ARC" via the remote controls "Audio Source". Can only select "Musik I-link" - "AUX" - "Optical" - "coax" but not "HDMI ARC" !! ??
I am desperate, tried several HDMI cables ending up with a very expensive one that supports all new standards but still no sound from the TV. Have restarted, reinstalled both units, updated the software...no luck. This system has cost me a lot af money, what can I do ?? Please HELP

Hi,
check, if ARC is enabled on both devices (also CEC = Easylink) and check also the audio mapping. See manual page 16.

Thanks for your advise, sorry but it did not solve my problem. I am still not able to select "HDMI ARC" on the HTS remote "Audio source" option and there are still no sound from the TV (only built in speakers). The TV says "Amplifier" then "failed" and "TV Speakers on". Hope for help I hate to send it for repair when it is brand new.

Hi,
Same problem for me too: hts5563/12 hooked up on aPhilips 32PFL4007H/12 TV and no audio from my tv via the HDMI-Arc cable. I chatted with some Philips employees on the (Dutch) support site, telephoned with customer service, but no one could help me.
All the menu settings are correct and the connection via the special HDMI-Arc connectors, but no result. I hope that it is a firmware problem, that can be solved with an firmware update?

Dear users,
Appreciate if you can provide us the below information so that we can better look into this:
1. What is the previous source before it happened?
2. What is the action taken before the issue is seen?
3. Did your switch to TV preset channel or manually switch to HDMI ARC?
4. ***What is the software version for TV and HCS?
5. When the issue occur (TV shows "Amplifier" then "failed" and "TV Speakers on") , were you able to recover the issue? Is it by soft reset or go to setup menu and disable/re-enable the System Audio Control?
With thanks & regards,

Hi,
I don't really know what you mean by 'previous source', but for me it occurred at first use. I bought my tv just 2 weeks ago and the HCS jus last week.
The first week I hooked up my Philips tv with my old Sony Home Cinema System and the audio worked fine. Even the CEC-function worked.
When I bought the Philips BluRay HCS (Both Philips, so I thought that was the best combination) it did not work, even the CEC function.
So:
1. It does not matter (it occurs all the time, no special previous source)
2. ????
3. I just switch to TV and than I hit the 'Adjust'-button on my remote to select the audio via the Amplifier. (and a screen on my tv replies with 'Failed! Return to tv-speakers')
4. for both the latest (dutch).
For the HCS: SW.1.47.10
For the TV: Q554E-0.79.2.0 (release for TV55OR4 Q554E-0.79.2.0_bld19c)
5. No, I cannot recover the issue. Al worked fine with my old (Sony) DVD HCS, but no longer with my new Philips BluRay HCS. I did several soft resets on both the TV and the HCS, even unplugged both after a soft reset, but all without any (better) results.
I hope this info will help.
Regards,
Peter

Dear Peter Franken,
For your TV, the latest firmware should be Q554E_0.90.0.0. Would you please update the firmware of your TV and test on this again?
With thanks & regards,

Hi Ulbrandt, I am having the exact same problem that you are facing. I tried in my perspectif everything I could. I first tried on my own to solve the problem by going through the manuals, FAQ and forums, but it didn't solve the problem. Somehow it's not possible to select "HDMI ARC". After I experimented on my own I called the Philips helpdesk, because they didn't answer my email. After going through the exact same steps I did on my own, we checked the versions of my philips TV en HTS5563/12. There was an update avalaible for my TV en installed it. Unfortunately, the system stil didn't give the option "HDMI ARC". My philips TV is an: 42PFL4606H with version: TPM71E2.22 PQ version flash: PQV0.04 1111011 and my HTS5563/12 is version: 1.52.00. After I updated to the versions I mentioned above, I called the helpdesk ones more. The employee told me she couldn't do anything more for me and I should bring my system back to the store where I bought it... Then I found on google this forum about the exact same system I have and I hope someone has an solution for me or an philips employee that reads this thread. Please help me, I already spent a lot of money calling to the helpdesk. Updating to the latest version didn't do the trick
