Software update automatic?
Looking at the menu structure of my TV is look likes the TV should find available software (FW) updates. But it doesn't.
I let the TV search for updates, but it doesn't find any.
I noticed that a few FW versions passed since I bought the TV and I now upgrade the FW manually. Can somebody explain how the suggested update function works?

As with all Philips TV's with this function they are really reluctant with offering automatic SW upgrades via IP. This because this has quite an impact if something goes wrong! You immediately ruin thousands of (IP-connected) TV's, resulting in massive repair scenarios and costs.
So only in case of CRUCIAL software improvements that are applicable for all countries, this will be offered. Meaning that most of the time, upgrades are only offered via the support website, and must be manually downloaded and upgraded via USB stick.
I think for 2k11 models, there were only 2 or 3 automatic SW upgrades (via IP) while there were maybe 10 upgrades in total... (just a guess).

Thanks @Cookie.
I bit disappointing... TV is by no PC/Mac is my conclusion.
TV manufacturers implementing a computer are not successful. Hopefully computer manufacturers who will make televisions will succeed... (Apple).

I assume you mean 14.99, right? I heard that this one is IP-pushed to the customers since last monday. Not the 14.93......
The change log can be found here or on the Philips support website.Last edited by Cookie; 08-01-2012 at 02:30 PM.
