Design bugs in DS8800W!
I like the unit. Really. Sound is fine, set up was ok. AirPlay and line in works nicely, BUT how the hell could Phillips design a product with IMO seriously stupid flaws?
A) when using the remote to switch between airlplay and line in mode, there is no feedback whatsorever from the speaker. No blinking, no pepp, nothing. A big UI no-no. Also there is no way of telling which mode the speakers in.
B) whenever the WIFI connection is lost, audio will stop. Even in line in mode!???
C) when starting the unit it will try to connect to the WIFI first. Nothing can be done unless there's a connection. Meaning if your WIFI is down you cannot use the speaker at all. Not even in line in mode!!????
D) you can start the unit manually without remote, adjust the volume but you cannot switch the mode to line in without the remote. WHY?
Please correct me if I got it wrong. I would be happy to learn that I missed something...

Hi Rodvela,
what's wrong with your remote? Can't you get a replacement?
In regards to the wifi connection - what's the SSID name of your router? It should only consist of normal characters and numbers but NO special characters or spaces. In case there are special characters or spaces you will have to change your SSID name accordingly through your router configuration settings.
Hope this help.

Detailed problem
Well, the remote seams not to be working, i bought 2 batteries replacement and worked for like a minute and then stop working. I noticed that introducing the battery in a certain position y could get it to work, but after a few minutes it stopped working and i havent been able to get it to work again. I suppose it died for good.
The other problem i have experience for a while now, is that the unid after i shutted down it has not been able to connect to the network. It worked fine the first months but after a while, it just didn't connect to the network, and i had to switch off the router to be able to reconfigure the unit, because if the router was on, the green light of the unit never slowed down in the blinking.
Then even with the router off, i could not get the slow blinking green light in the unit and the only way to reconfigure it, was to use the remote and switch to line mode, wait for the slow blinking green light and press the configuration button in the back of the unit.
Now my remote died and the unit is useless.
What can i do?
I bough it in Amazon, and i am in Venezuela, i havent found any one who sells the remote alone.

Do you still have a warranty on this product? Either way I would suggest to contact retailer's customer care or Philips customer care for Central America (http://www.support.philips.com/suppo...userCountry=pa) to see if they can replace it for you. There is a high chance they will.
Add WiFi issue - do you have the newest software version on it?

Hi Tereza, could you please send med the PM as well (or maybe just post the info here), I'm also having trouble getting the wifi connection working. Have followed every instruction closely a few times but keep ending up with a slowly blinking green light. Used to work fine before...

Dear Gribby,
please try the following steps:
1. Power off DS8800
2. Power reset the router
3. When the router is power on and working fine, power on the DS8800
4. Follow the Quick Start Guide and see if it can enter the setup mode
5. If it can enter the setup mode, setup again to see which step in QSG is failed
6. If DS8800 just keeps flashing green and doesn’t enter setup mode as described in step 4, please refer to your local service centre.
