FW 000.140.023.000 problem?
Hi,
I have a 37PFL8605H/12 tv and since the new FW version I had 2 crashes when watching the same dvd.
This tv is 1 month old and before the FW i never had a crash.
What happens?
Suddenly the image stays fixed (a bit distorted too) and the led flashes 3 times, then the tv reboots. The first time I also noticed the ambilight turning red in the left upper corner after te reboot. The reboot doesn't help, the fixed frame of the dvd stays and the red led keeps flashing and eventually reboots again. I have to manually turn the tv off and on again, then everything is fine again.
I checked for excessive heat, but the tv is rather cold.
I already contacted Philips but they were going to send a service guy. As I can't take a day off at work anymore, I refused the serviceguy. The man at the service desk said they would take note of the problem.
Anyone has had the same problem?
Should I check the Service Menu for errors or should I not touch that? (It says I will lose my warranty if I am not an authorised repair guy (I am not)).

This is the worst TV I have ever owned :-( I bought this expensive TV-set of a known brand, expecting NO TROUBLE using it as a TV!
I have updated my FW everytime a new release is out - but right now it feels like the FW just gets buggier and buggier.
Ok my problems then:
1. The TV switches itself on and off
2. It reboots LOTS OF TIMES
3. The menu system is dead slow
4. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, the TV is "semi"-on. With a dark grey screen, no Led and no Ambilight.
Having this low quality assurance from a large company as Philips is surprising!
And yes, I do run the latest FW: 46pfl7605h_12_fus_eng (FW 000.140.023.000)
TV model: 46PFL7605H
Questions:
1. Will you get you act together and finally release a working FW for this expensive Amibilight TV?
2. Can I check what FW is currently loaded in the TV?
Running Linux in a TV, maybe not the best solution...
Regards,
Lars Siden

Same tv as yours also 1 month old
Since this update zapping is worser than ever. Black screens appear, the message "gecodeerd programma".
Furthermore i have the bug zapping form NED1 HD to NED2 HD the tv zaps but NED 1 HD is shown again. (als with more channels!)
I have Ziggo en CI+. I expect from Philips more service and a quick update to solve these problems. As a consumer a expected a working tv, not a PC that crashes every time.

I have the same firmware and 46PFL7605 model. Since I installed the new firmware, I also have this rebooting/restarting bug. I can not properly turn the tv on or off. Really annoying.

I disconnected my LAN cable from the TV, and maybe, just maybe it works alittle bit better!
Philips, thank you so much for making my children cry when they cant see the child TV before bed time - feels super to have a brand new TV that only works as an expensive lamp!

Yes there is:
* Select HOME (or MENU) - SETUP - SOFTWARE SETTINGS and then CURRENT SOFTWARE INFO.
* Or key in "123654" on your remote control. You will enter the CSM menu. With the DOWN/UP button you can scroll through these pages. On page 2, the current SW info is available.

Strange then that consumers seem to "accept" that their PC crashes so now and then (understatement!) but that they don't accept that from their TV, which is also a kind of a PC these days. Maybe nice topic for a discussion?
I can imagine that, because there are a lot of different local situations, they are very difficult to simulate in a lab environment. For instance the Ziggo problems is specific for the Netherlands, but in every country u have these kind of providers, all with their specific needs and issues....
I'm sure that Philips is closely monitoring this (and other) forums and that they are working like crazy to get things solved.
But I agree that they should test their software better before release and not use us as "test rabbits".
Hopefully they come with new firmware very soon......

- Did you already perform a complete re-installation of all channels, as suggested here in this topic somewhere?
- A second option could be upgrading your DVD player to the latest SW version (if not already installed).
- If TV is still not okay after this, and you are not able to be at home for a service guy, why not bring your TV to the workshop then for analysis.

I don't have any channels installed, because we watch tv here with a external box (decoder). The bluray player has the latest version.
I didn't experience the problem since I posted the topic here, but I still don't trust it. I have not had any other problems with the set, so I'm pretty happy with it.
I'm going to wait untill a next FW release, if it crashes a lot, then maybe I will take it to a service center. It's strange that I'm the only one here on the forum with that particular problem...

I work as a professional software architect - so I'm used to dealing with bugs. I would NEVER let software with so many bugs out on the market,
And a TV is still a TV, even if it has a PC inside. The problem seems to be with internet/LAN connection, since I removed the LAN cable, the TV has been more or less fully functional.
To compare a TV with a computer is a bit missleading, a computer I have control of - I can change drivers, look as logs - switch modules that doesn't work - on the TV I have a on and off button - no more.

For 8000 & 9000 series (2010), new software 140.25 available, check this: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...s-(2010-models)!
Please upgrade your TV and start sharing your experiences here ....Last edited by Philips; 11-10-2010 at 08:19 AM.

This firmware is not for the 7000 series then? If not, when will the 7000 firmware update be available to fix the shutting down issue?
Warm regards,
Rob
