TV Plasma stand by
I would like to know if disconnect a Plasma TV every day from the main (220VAC), to eliminate the stand by energy consumption (28,7 W with a Volcraft energy check 3000), can reduce the TV life time. The TV is Philips widescreen flat TV 42PFP5532D 42" plasma integrated digital with Pixel Plus HD.
Thank you

Dear Guilherme. I don't know what this has to do with Net TV, but anyhow:
This model has a specified Standby power consumption smaller than 1 W (see leaflet).
These TV's are working in a so called "burst mode" in case of stand-by. “Normal” (cheap) power measuring devices are not reliable and not qualified to measure correct values in case of burst mode, and very low power consumption is anyhow problematic (< 5W).
So, in my opinion, it does not make much sense to disconnect the mains every day with a power consumption that low. Hope this answers your question?

if you switch the tv to standby, then it is still checking for updates and new software.
this takes about 15 minutes and then the tv switches to full standby.
therefore it is possiblem that you have measured 28 W
indeed it does not make much sense to take it off from the mains, because the standby consumption is <1 W.

Hansje: what do you mean with "it is still checking for updates and new software"? These plasma sets do not have internet connection do they?

Guilherme,
updates for channellist or software.
this is related to DVB-T reception.
If you switch to standby then the tv will check whether channellist needs to be updated.
This check can take about 15 minutes.
kind regards.
