42PFL4307H/12: Navigation within DLNA shared media
Hello everybody.
I'm using uShare as uPnP server in a Linux machine, and I'm sharing a folder with several movies that include a wide range of container/formats, but when I play them from the 42PFL4307H/12 TV, I can't do more than play/stop/pause. I can't fast forward or rewind any of the movies.
If I use VLC as uPnP client from a PC, I can navigate within every movie without problems.
Is this the intended behavior of this model? FW. version is 000.091.000.000.
Thanks in advance.

I've just tried now with music: same behavior. I can play but cannot use any search function (ffw / rew).
In addition, it doesn't show any picture (all standard JPG files).
Once again, VLC can play, go back and forward within an audio file, and shows all JPG files.
Is this TV uPNP client so limited, or is it defective? According to the on-screen help, I should be able to see pics and use search functions.
Regards.

Nothing to worry with your TV. That's it all.
You've got what you paid for. No FFW, no RW, no icons.
Just play, stop, break.

Not really, it should show pictures at least.
From the user manual:
If you connect your TV to the home
network, you can share movies, pictures
and music from a computer or media
server on your home network. What you can do
You can play videos, photos and music on
your TV from:
Your computer, connected through the
home network
A USB device connected to the TV
Regarding playback functions, under Play files from computer
section it talks vaguely:
Play files
1. Press (home button) on the remote control.
2. Select [Your network], then press OK. If
the network installation starts, follow the
onscreen instructions.
3. Select a file from the content browser,
then press OK to start play.
4. Press the Play buttons on the remote
control to control play.
So, definitely, the firmware doesn't allow the product to accomplish with specifications.

Don't worry, not my native language as well.
Before thinking it's a fraud, I'd like to read from any from the staff: "You're right and we are working to fix that".

Back with good news:
I tried to force the uShare parameter USHARE_ENABLE_DLNA=YES in /etc/ushare.conf, but it caused a segmentation fault when running uShare, so I decided to try another dlna server: minidlna.
After uninstalling uShare and installing minidlna, I changed /etc/minidlna.conf to set my media directory, and then I had to run minidlna -R to rebuild the media db. The result is the expected, it works. It serves pictures now, and I can now ffw and rw movies and music.
Thanks Benedikte for your hint.
I hope it's useful to you, user0815: You need a dlna compliant service in your server, that seems not being exactly the same as uPnP. uShare crashes for me when trying to make it work as dlna, but perhaps it's due to the huge amount of media I have, or the tricky names some of the files have.
Happy streaming everyone =)

somewhere within twonky you can see all detected devices and how they will be handled, make sure you select a dlna compliant profile
you can also try ps3media server

Yes, I know, start Twonky, see Settings, Releases, Terminals. (Item names translated from german)
I can choose 5 Navigation types. (Ipod like; Mobile´, Classic etc.)
Tried different but no success when starting movies from the TV Network.
Only the other way is fine. Push Video from PC to TV gives FFW, RW functions to the TV remote.
Errrm, should I start another thread ?
