Wi-Fi Media Connect not supported on 2012 Europe models
Hi all,
I want to inform you all that Wi-Fi Media Connect is not supported on our Europe 2012 models ( xxPFLxxx7).
On the support page for your TV you will find Media manager + server (Twonky). This is a push and pull multimedia tool that you use over DLNA to your TV.
You get the license key for Twonky by register your TV on Club Philips. Without registering, you can use Twonky for one (1) Month. NOTE: Reinstalling does NOT reset the 1 month counter.
You can also use Windows Media Player 12 as an alternative Media Server.
Best regards

Hi,
just log in to Club Philips with your webbrowser... scroll down to your registered TV and press the button to retrieve the key.

Are you now telling me the information printed on the box of my T.V. stating Media Connect "wireless connection from your
t.v. to you Mac or PC is not true? If so! Should there now be a recall on your product for false advertising or better a class action lawsuit?

See below for my chat with Phillips. They care so much they hung up on me!
Eric:
I recently purchased the above model t.v. after several weeks of researching
brands of t.v.s I settled on the Philips t.v. because it seemed to provide all the features I wanted in a t.v. at an affordable price. However, after many hours of trying to get the MediaConnect feature working. I gave up in frustration and then called your support line. I spoke with several techs that each gave me their own spin telling me that it was something other than the software. One tech. also told me it was a router issue. I then spent hours on the phone with the router manufacturer. Being told after checking the router all throughly and having them check my router remotely that there is no problem with the router. I now read in your support site that the MediaConnect software is not compatible with the 2012 T.V.s Is that true?
Welcome Eric! Your request has been directed to the Consumer Television department. Please wait for our operator to answer your call.
Call accepted by operator Marc. Currently in room: Marc, Eric.
Marc:
Thank you for contacting Philips. Please give me a moment to review your question.
Marc:
It is compatible to certain models. Yours is one of them.
Eric:
Obviously not because your support center has no answer for why I can't get it to work. They checked my current computer specs and said it was more than suffient to run the software. I guess I am glad I bought the t.v. at Costco. I can return it without an problems and purchase a different brand. Because Philips can't give me an answer other than it is compatible with my t.v. I GIVE UP!
Marc is now off-line and may not reply. Currently in room: Eric.
Eric:
GREAT! Thanks for NO RESPONSE!

Hi Benedickte
Thanks, but I'm more than happy with iSedora which I find works far better than Twonky.
However unlike Wi-Fi Media Connect, neither iSedora nor Twonky is able to stream from a web browser which is why I would like to know why Wi-Fi Media Connect not supported on 2012 Euro models (like the 32PFL5007K model that I have just bought!).
Regards Glaven

That is exactly my question too! http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...+media+connect
How is it possible for Philips to cancel a very useful application such as Wi-Fi Media Connect from its Y2012 TV models in Europe while older TV models still have the app???!! And since Philips has made such decision, why didn't replace the wi-fi media connect with an alternative application bearing grosso modo the same features? Is there an official explanation to this??
