Ariaz - has the battery died?

    model: SA2ARA08K/55 , bought sept 2010.

Hi all, I've seen a few 'device won't charge' topics here, none with any solution apparently. So here goes again:

Device is visible in Songbird when connected to laptop, and on the device the battery icon flashes, as normally occurs when charging. But even after several hours in 'charge and transfer' mode the device does not switch on. Needs new battery?

Also tried in 'charge and play' mode: in this case the charging battery symbol is much larger, in middle of the device screen, and the image cycles through one to four bars. But after 1 hour still can't switch on.

I tried 'repair/reset' via Songbird, but the progress bar remained unchanged after 40 mins.

So, what are the options if the battery can no longer be charged? (and warranty expired, I presume)

They say it's normal to have to replace a device after three years (phones, at least). But in reality, I don't use this device very intensively and it's probably been through no more than 20 charge cycles; so seems surprising that the battery might have died.

    Thanks, Phil

    Dear Phil,

The symptoms you are describing suggest that the device is faulty. It is not just a battery issue.
Therefore we suggest you should have it serviced.

I am sorry we couldn't help further. Please accept my sincere apologies.

    Kind regards,
    Philips Moderation Team
