    Problem with 42pfl4307h

I bought yesterday the specific television and i'm facing two problems. First the media player doesn't recognise the greek fonts (for example ANSI) in the subtitles. Second i tried to play a 3d video file in mp4 format through the usb and although the file is sbs i cannot choose the 3d option from the menu. As if it doesn;t recognise it. Third sometimes i get a lot of crosstalk.Any suggestion?

    Hi,

    1) greek fonts are not supported
    2) video must have exactly a resolution of 1920x1080 to activate 3D (1280x720 is also possible - but i'm not sure)

    [QUOTE=Toengel;39731]Hi,

    1) greek fonts are not supported
    ...

    Hi

I have been around this forum a bit, and I'm amazed on how the complaint about the Greek (and probably other languages?) subtitles issue is turned down that simply. Sorry, but "greek fonts are not supported" is not an answer.
I would expect you to provide a more customer-friendly explanation on what is wrong and the Greek fonts cannot be handled properly, why the problem could not be fixed so far, and when it will be fixed (if ever).
Until this problem will ever be solved you have to provide us with info on what we should do in order to workaround the problem, and I mean with no cost whatsoever, for either Windows or Linux and for any possible video format. I (and many other poor Greek customers for that matter) have very few time to google around, just in order to make a product that doesn't meet its standards work.
Otherwise, you had better explain why you don't openly and explicitly warn the potential customers so that they know what they buy.

    Hi,

of course, I also say, that this character set should be supported. However, from my point of view, it's just not a feature of this TV series. Same holds to DTS sound support.

It's good that we at least have some moral support!
As for DTS I knew there was a problem, because I did my little research. But the inability to use any non-latin fonts (in a 2012 device dammit!) really beats me, and it really got me off guard when I realized it. BTW, this "feature" of not having that basic feature is not mentioned anywhere in the Philips docs. What the heck, one buys a smart HD TV in order to watch movies, right? And Philips TVs are sold all over the world, right?
In any case, enough with grumbling, I would now like to know if non-latin fonts will ever be available in this model, if not why (just out of curiosity - and to draw conclusions about Philips competency), and if there is a workaround method (e.g. edit the video & subtitles file?) that can amend the problem somehow.

On 22-2-13 I bought 47pfl4307k. I was shocked to see that a TV sold in Greece didn't support Greek Subtitles!!! After many hours of searching and testing , I wrote an e-mail to Greek customer care service, asking them if anything could be done to watch movies with Greek subs or else I would have to return the TV to the store (within 10 days) and buy another TV.
Nobody bothered to answer me even though I received a confirmation e-mail, saying that I would get a response within 4 working days...
Finally(and without any response from customer care) I took the decision to keep the TV, believing that it is not so hard to add on more charset, Greek or at least Unicode, in a future update...
    Did I do wrong????
