At least Dailymotion should work. Did you enter the URL in open internet browser or did you check the NetTV app?
If the NetTV app does not work in Italy, you should bring up this, since it is available for your country. For reference, please see:

Regarding youtube, I have a 2010 TV and with the NetTV youtube app, I was able to play the movie "Sonnenallee", which is listed, when you follow the link above.
Did this not work on your side or do you request a second youtube app which lists the same videos as the link above?

I do not really understand, do you want to play .mkv files which are originated in the web, or do you want to play a .mkv file from USB, do you want to play a .mkv file from DLNA?
For USB and DLNA, .mkv playback works when having no DTS sound in the .mkv file. There is a codec overview in the forum.
For the web, do you know bluray files located in the web, you want to play?

sorry, i didn't express myself clearly. I always hook up my external hd on my tv via usb. And i noticed some mkv files were being played without problems and others wouldn't play at all. now i know it's because of dts audio. Strange thing is though that my lg bluray home cinema doesn't play them either, you'd expect it to have all possible audio codecs preinstalled since its sole job is to make movies sound good.
I'll check out the codecs page, i'm sceptical about it having a solution though, but thank you for your help!!

Probably too much to ask, but it would be absolutely amazing to have XBMC, especially the versions that include a mythtv frontend.

Met player (Metropolitan Opera)
Hi The Metropolitan Opera (http://www.metoperafamily.org) offers an online service that currently needs relies on flash and doesn't even work with the nettv browser. An application for this one would be very welcome!!

Is there a way to play movies which are in Flash-format?
E.g. like to see a TV program through 'uitzending gemist' (missed program) om TV-West here in
The Netherlands and I can reach the site of TV-West without any problem on my Philips 32PFL9606/H
but all movies are in Flash format so 'it's the end of the exercise' by clicking on the desired movie.
And please, don't talk about 'Mediaconnect' because I am a Mac user and therefor completely ignored by Philips!
