ARC connection with Yamaha YSP 4000 soundbar

I sm trying to play television sound via yamaha ysp 4000 soundbar but no luck.

I haveva dvd and humax stb connected to yamaha via hdmi and i have hdmi from yamaha to philips tv.

Do i need a separate optical or digital coax cable between the tv and the yamaha or do i need to do something else. I thought the hdmi connection should allow playback?

Or does my yamaha soundbar also have to be ARC enabled for it to work( not sure of this).

The tv is philips 42flp5604h/12

Hi Kbr88.

Both devices have to be ARC compatable and turned on for it to work. As far as i can see your TV in not arc compatable. You will need S/PDIF out (coaxial), headphone output or audio out (red/white) from your TV to your Sound system to get sound out of the yahama. You can read more about this here.
