    BDP7700/12 - firmware downgrade

    Hello I'm Paolo from Italy.
    Yesterday I've downloaded and installed the fw 3.46 --> a disaster!
    Big problems with 3D (as it occurred to my previous blu-ray player bdp7600).
    I've installed again the fw 3.46, made the "restore factory settings" without success.

    A question: is it possible to make a "downgrade" of the firmware?

    If I'm not wrong the previous firmware installed (and perfectly working) was version 3.34!

    On Philips support's pages is not possible to download and old version of the firmware (and I can't find it online...)

    Can somebody please help me please?

    thank you

    Paolo

    Downgrading is not possible anymore due to Cinavia...

    What are the exact issues then?

    These are the big issues and problems with 3D:
    all the scenes are "duplicated" and , it seems almost everything is "under water".
    I's impossible to see any scene without eyes-ache!
    I must give-up using the 3D.
    These are the same problems I had with bdp7600 (using several firmware) and at the end, fortunately, I gave back the product to the dealer.

    With bdp7700 the 3D was tested with two different tv-glasses (PTA517 and PTA507) and different movies (Rio, Hugo Cabret, Ice Age 3): half an hour before the update the vision of Hugo Cabret was perfect!

    Besides it seems that standby operation is slowest than before.

    I haven't understood perfectly the Cinavia's limit.
    I think that if I could have a previous firmware (3.34, if I'm not wrong was perfect) maybe I could downgrade the bdp7700.
    Unfortunately I haven't saved any previous firmware's file. :-(

    Thanks you.

    PLEASE GIVE ME BACK MY OLD FIRMWARE (3.34)!

    Last try today updating the tv firmware (40pfl8606) to 14.101.
    Already done yesterday serveral updates with the same firmware (3.46) on bdp7700.
    Everything is the same. :-(
    Everything is a disaster.

    Besides often I'm must switch off and unplug the bdp7700 cause in goes in tilt and on the display remains the word 'auto'!

    Sad to say this but... This is the last time I trust in Philips...
    No more purchases of this brand for me in my future.

    Hi Paolo,

    For the BDP7700 issue there is another post mentioning that philips is working on this. So it looks like new FW is on its way.

    Which are the EAN codes of the movies where you have issues with. That would be of help

    Thanks

    Hello Oscar, thanks for your support.

    I think that every title in 3D actually is not supported onmy bdp7700!!!
    I've already contacted sometimes ago (when I bought the bdp7600) the support (if I'm not wrong I chatted with Italian support) and I listed the 3D titles that had problems (in practice every title I owned and every title my friends borrowed me).
    Now I don't want to do the same...

    I'm happy to know that philips is working to a new fw, but I'm not so optimist! :-(

    When some days ago the issue occurred on a this new model 7700 (again as occurred on 7600) I've lost my trust in philips' softwares developers (and in philips brand above all).
    It couldn't be a sporadic event since the old 7600 (with glasses PTA516) was also tested on my friend's tv (samsung 55" 7000 series) revealing the same issues!

    bye

    Paolo

    Hello again Oscar,
    thanks again.

    Can you please point me to the post relating to bdp7700 issues?

    I'd like to see not only your kind replies but also some reassuring words from philips' moderators...

    Here the EAN codes of my 3D's movies.
    Every title (I must reaffirm every!!!) has problems of image alignment (more visible in the background of movies' scenes) and the resulting effect is an eyes' ache vision! Every detail is splitted. The more the scene is in motion the worse is the effect!

    Alice in Wonderland --> EAN 8 717418 285593
    Rio 3D --> EAN 8 010312 096273
    Hugo Cabret --> EAN 8 032807 041155
    The Nightmare before Christmas --> EAN 8 717418 320263
    A Christmas Carol --> EAN 8 717418 270940
    Kung Fu Panda2 3D --> EAN 5 050582 875294
    Ice Age3 3D --> 8 010212 096709

    bottom line...
    I don't think it's a problem of movies, it's a problem of player!!!

    Hi, For the 3D part I have seen two movies this weekend on a 40PFL8007 with PTA516 glasses. Saw Scrooged also and Clash of the Titans. Loved the picture and did not see what you see at all. Really sharp image and again none of your problems were there.

    What Tv did you see it on as you used it with PTA516, but don´t see the tv.

    What you describe might be due to non working glasses since when I turn of the PTA I see this but when turned on normally yes great picture

    Btw no freezing into standby seen either.....

    I don't understand perfectly what you said...

    These the tests made on my 40pfl8606
    first kit (given back to seller): bdp7600 and pta516 --> ko
    player samsung bd6900(?) and pta516--> ko
    actual kit bdp7700 with pta517 and pta507 (perfect before upgrading to 3.46) now -->ko

    This test was made on my friend's tv samsung 55"
    (before give back to seller) bdp7600 and pta516 --> ko

    As far as vision of 3D movies is concerned... yes, even on my system, with old fw, the images were pleasant and sharp and not annoying...

    bye :-)

    Hi Paolo,

    As said I did not see it. What settings have you tried on your tv?
