Player won't play movie with embedded SSA subtitle
I have a MKV video file with a H.264 video track, an AC3 audio track and an SSA subtitle track:
Input #0, matroska,webm:
Metadata:
creation_time : 2012-09-29 19:19:55
Duration: 00:44:14.33, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 3159 kb/s
Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (High), yuv420p, 1280x720, SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 1k tbn, 50 tbc (default)
Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1(side), s16, 384 kb/s (default)
Stream #0:2(eng): Subtitle: ssa (default)
My BDP5500 won't play that file, saying instead that the video format is not supported.
If I remove the SSA track, however, the video plays just fine.
The BDP5500 is using the latest firmware (3.46), the file was played via DLNA.
I have not tried playing it via USB stick/HDD.

I extracted the subtitle, converted it to .srt and muxed it into the same video again.
The movie plays and the subtitle gets shown.
In case it helps, here's the header of the SSA file:

As requested I tried to play the file from a USB stick, which does work.
So the issue only manifests itself when playing such a movie over the network via DLNA.

Hi Kyle, a new fw was released V3.53, did you already install this one and did it solve the problem? Also might be good to try with different media server...

The issue persists with v3.53. I have not yet had the time to test with a different media server.

I'm using the open source DLNA server minidlna.
I'd provide you with an extensive log file, but I'm currently on holiday.
