Now available on Net TV: TWITTER!
This concerns Twitter version 1.0 for Net TV.
We are already working on version 2.0 with additional functionality and corrections.
When you access the Twitter App you can read the most discussed trends. The Twitter App will adapt to your country settings, so what you see is country depending. When you have a twitter account you can sign-in. Then you will see the tweets of the people you follow.
Twitter account creation is not supported via this App, it is easier to do that via your PC at twitter.com
When you have a 2009 TV some twitter message might not show correctly, this is because the font in the Twitter message is not supported by the TV (for example Chinese). 2010 TV’s support more fonts.
The search function allows you to search for twitter messages on a certain topic. You cannot search for a twitter account name (that is for the 2.0 release).
URL’s mentioned in tweets are not directly accessible (perhaps in the 2.0 release).
When you select the picture of the messenger and press OK, all tweets from this person are shown.
The tweet history is limited to 15 tweets.
Have a try, we are happy to read your findings and observations on this Twitter App here.
Beside criticism and corrections, we feel most encouraged with a small sign of appreciation.
At your service, the Net TV Team.

Mario, I agree, Twitter would be ideal in widget format.
In an interview at the IFA stand with SAMSUNG they said that broadcasters do not allow widgets.
So, broadcasters do not want to see their video broadcast polluted with additional graphics?
This is quite remarkable, if you watch Dutch commercial broadcast’s (like RTL & SBS) these broadcasters pollute their own broadcast with “coming next” announcements right trough movies and programs, very annoying, and you can’t switch it off.
In the “Holland’s got talent” series the broadcasters put Twitter onscreen themselves! How inconsequent can you be!
Because the broadcasters also provide the catch-up TV content, TV manufacturers need to stay friends with the broadcasters. But broadcasters can’t stop technology. Since TV’s are internet connected they can get the programs and movies directly from the source, at the moviemakers (Disney, Hollywood etc) and directly at the program makers.
I expect that broadcasters that have no additional contribution in the chain between source and TV, will not survive this battle. No wonder that broadcasters are hitting the brakes here.

How to upgrade to future twitter apps?
When there are updates to the Twitter app, how would we upgrade the app? Would it be through the TV upgrade screen options.. or is there some other way to do this?
I ask, because currently our TV twitter app isn't functional and we just got off the phone with the guys and they said the only thing we can do is wait for an upgrade.
Our error message is:
Connection Error: NE[00303406]
Our internet connect works normally with the other 2 apps — Netflix & the radio app, and for about 30 seconds the twitter app works normally too until we get the above mentioned error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting the error on my 40PFL7705DV set and am thinking about returning it for the a) lack of apps and b) the few apps it does have don't work too well, like this Twitter error that never goes away.
