Bllu-ray disc 25GB with mkv data as "Unknown disc"
Hello
I have a 7500 MKII player. I can easily play DVD discs 4.7 and 8.5GB Dual Layer with data, like .mkv and .avi files on it. Last days I am trying to create a BD-R disk 25GB with the same files .mkv and .avi in folders structure. But player can't read the disc given me an "Unknown disc".
I have the latest firmware.
- I have tried Nero 10, Imgburn, DVDFab 8 Qt, Burn Aware free, CDBurnerXp, Win7 explorer.
- I have used recorder system Blu-ray UDF 1.1 & 2.5 and also ISO.
What I am doing wrong? Can 7500 MKII play .mkv from BD-R disk with data in it?

I am not sure if understood completely what you mean about characteristics. Is it possible to analyse it a little more, please?
Philips 7500 MKII as I can see at specifications can play BD-R. What I am wonder is if also can read BD-R with my personal files of avi and mkv video. I know can read DVD with avi and mkv. Also the unit works well because can read movies from Blu-Ray discs
The BD-R discs I used for recording data is XLayer 25GB and Aone 4X 25GB.

Hi Oscar,
looking at Aone 4X 25GB specifications read: "Complies with BD-R specification version 1.1". I have not an answer from XLayer for BD-R 25GB.
You mean that the Philips player is not compatible with version 1.1, and that's why can't read the discs?

I have checked and it looks that this should not be an issue. Normally with unknown Disc there is a problem with the device but you say that other discs do play ok no? Also original ones?

Yes. Originals, I mean all commercial Blu-ray movies can play well. But not when I have write data in BD-R.
Only DVD single and double layer can play the mkv and avi data files.
Do you believe that my player must plays as well the BD-R with data files?

Maybe you could try with another program to burn the data on the disc or did you try already?

No, I didn't but I think I tried already a lot. Using 2-3 discs with any program I spend about 15 BD-R. And every BD it is a little expensive. I don't thing another program will make the difference. But if you have something to propose..
