DVB-T2 is just the second version of DVB-T. Both DVB-T & DVB-T2 can support HD.

    Hi,

the question is, what the broadcaster will distribute... in Germany over DVB-T only SD quality is transmitted. But in the "near" future only DVB-T2 will be used for HD signals...

    Regards,

Regarding the rumors, I would very much to see the double tuner (and PAP) return to Philips TVs.
Two of my old TV had a double tuner (9618 & 9731), and I am used to. I bought an 9705 to replace the 9731: I got a better picture quality, but I lost so many usability features, especially in getting an idea on what is broadcasted. The 9731 didn't had EPG, but you could start PAP on the channel you re watching, and do a quick zapping to the rest of the channels.
The 9705 does not have twin tuner (so no PIP/PAP), the zapping in DVB-T channels is slow, and no EPG...
To get an idea on what is on, I have to either check with my laptop, or use my panasonic 50" U20 which has a complete EPG guide (despite that I bought it for 630 euros...)

I am very curious to learn what was in Philips mind, when designing a TV without EPG in 2010, about how users are supposed to use the TV...

In my old 9731D there was only one Digital tuner and one analog tuner. It had PAP function but the second part of the screen was not useful.

I'm not quite following you... You say, "No EPG" ? The 9705H/12 does have full EPG (and the information comes from broadcaster or Internet). The remote control is very different than the old ones but that's why there is the on-screen manual in your tv (the yellow button).

The 9705 has full EPG only in a very limited number of countries. In most European ones, the EPG does not work.
I am in Greece, and the EPG does not work at all. If I install channels with another country (like Spain/France/Germany), EPG is shown, but the time is wrong, so the displayed information is also wrong.

We are at least 4 owners in Greece that have made a request to Philips to fix the EPG since September, but after so many months and so many firmware releases, nothing has been fixed. EPG is still not working...

    Dear Petasis,

this isn't only an European problem. At least in Turkey (it's the same $TIMEZONE, isn't it?) they have exactly the same EPG w/ wrong clock problem. And I'm pretty sure that Philips Support is also in that case well briefed about this issue...

    Hi!
I confirm that EPG also does not work in Russia in 2009-models.

I am sure Philips does know about the problem (the problem also exist in 2009 models like 9704), but seems to do nothing for 1.5 year now...
I think that they really don't care. DVB-T guide from Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Sony TVs DOES work in Greece. Philips TVs doesn't, and is the only manufacturer that has this defect in software.

I hope these new models don't come without solving the old bugs of the 7000-8000-9000 families
(in my case the audio between pfl8605 and the hts5120 soundbar disappears for 2 seconds several times per hour).

    Unacceptable for products like Philips.

    regards
