This post says almost all. Even a 14 yr old script kidde would be able to write better "smart apps" under a open platform.
Most VOD services is supported under Opera. The tech guys at Philips might have stripped Opera plugins to handle only approved material, but I can not understand the security issue about having the missing Netflix running in the Opera browser.
Even my iPad is a better TV than the wall mounted Philips and suddently I realized why Ive never seen a tablet branded by Philips.
