I've owned my 46PFL9705 since just before Christmas and have two problems with it that the new software has failed to fix or actually may have caused:
1) I use an amp to drive the sound and as such I do not use the internal speakers. It matters not whether I turn them down or off, I get a buzzing noise coming from them which is very annoying. I know others are suffering with this fault as I've seen it mentioned on other forums (AVForums etc.). Surely Philips can provide a software fix for this?
2) Since owning the TV the quality of motion handling seems to have decreased. This can be seen when watching dark scenes on Bluray discs (e.g. the scene at the start of the Coen Brothers 'A Serious Man') or when watching relatively low resolution footage such as that I get through the SD broadcasts on Sky and Freesat. As objects move on the screen they leave traces / smears as they move. This effect is still there when the Perfect Natural Motion is off. It does seem to have got worse recently. Maybe I've only just started to notice it or maybe it's connected to the latest software update? I've a wonderful CTR Philips set (32PW9618) which displays this behaviour to a lesser extent on dark scenes, so I'm assuming it's to do with Philips motion algorithms. What can Philips do to correct this? It's very annoying when I see much cheaper, lower grade sets not displaying this type of behaviour.
The only other thing I would like to see (but it's not a massive problem) would be the option to rename the Smart Picture modes, so I can easily remember which ones I have set up for 3D Games, 3D Films, TV, Bluray etc.
If these issues could be addressed then I would finally be as thrilled with my new TV as I was with my last Philips set.

After one day of the Soundbar's purchase I had the same buzzy noise from the right speakers: I've brought it back to the shop and they've replaced it with a new one.
The second one is not affected from this problem. In my opinion it was an hardware problem, not a software one.
Have you tried to change the soundbar or to repair it?
regards

Nettle, I'm not sure you understand the problem and perhaps I did not express myself clearly enough. All of my inputs go through the amplifier and the video signal is sent to the TV and the sound outputted via the surround speaker setup. I'm not outputting any sound from the TV, not even by ARC as I have a separate satellite decoder running through the amplifier and therefore do not use the internal decoder. The issue I have is that when the TV is on there is a buzzing noise coming from the speakers on the TV even though I am outputting no sound from them. They make this sound whether I simply turn the volume down or turn the TV speakers off in the TV's menu. The sound from the amplifier thought the 5.1 speaker setup is fine. It's a problem with the TV itself. It’s one I could live with just about if Philips could sort the motion issues (smearing / tracing) out.
Hopefully someone from Philips might be able to comment?

ali, I've read most of your posts on AVForums and have to say that you seem to be experiencing worse symptoms than myself. Did you try putting your TV back FW v.0.140.25? I seem to remember reading that you were intending to try it. If so did it make any difference? I'm wondering if it is a software issue caused by the upgrade of whether it is a problem caused by the screen 'aging'. Hopefully it's software and it can be rectified by Philips via further firmware updates.
Again, maybe someone at Philips could comment?
