Thanks Moderator for the information of the new version.
In the future I think will please everyone get this information when becomes available.

Hi,
sometime there are block artifacts visible (looks like an chess board, good visible is some
color gradients) - i think that is meant with this issue.

Not sure what you mean with now/next feature? The tv showing what programme you are watching right now and what will come after it ? Mine does that via options button, then select programmes....
But in general, i prefer fixing confirmed bugs before adding new features

That's good to know! Thanks for telling us!...

I'm just missing one important thing:
Dark Backlight bands on every 32" PFL9705 so far
Please, Philips!?... Do not forget this!

So:
Audio drop solution (Doesn't affect me as I use an external amp and turner, but good to see it's getting fixed)
Zap time improvement (reduce time from pressing the change channel button and the channel actually changing)
Macroblocks improvement (again for the internal tuner, good for those who use it)
PIP available with DVB-S signals (once again for the internal tuner)
All well and good, but this in no way addresses the motion issues (smearing / traces) or the buzzing sound emitted from the speakers when the volume is turned right down or the speakers are set to off. I really was hoping for a solution to these fundamental issues, not just these minor tweaks.
Philips, can you not give us an indication of whether these issues are being addressed?

Better EPG
Any change that the EPG implementation get any better? Why is that when watching EPG, the tv is swithed away? This slows down everything a lot.
I have seen epg implementations about 3 years ago that really looks better then what i have now with my 46fpl9705h12.
- why no channel numbers when watching EPG?
- why the tv dont show a small frame with THE current tv channel when watching epg?
- why is the epg implementation so terible slow?
- why only show two block of tv shows, and not like what is comming the next few hours?
The currently implementation of epg is really not one of the strongest points, considered that 9705 should be noted as the flag snip? I guess there is still some work to do there.
Edit: i expected to see better with an model that won an EISA adward, dont you think?
Edit 2: forgot to mention that EPG doesn't start at the channel you currently watching at, it start at top. Most enoying... As my opinion. Because its logical that EPG starts showing information at the channel you are currently watching at...
Question at Philips, any change that this is going to be improved for 9705?Last edited by sokolum; 02-20-2011 at 04:33 PM.

Just out of curiosity:
so far I haven't seen any responses to this announcement, but am I alone in finding this kinda exciting!?...
I mean, I don't have DVB-S, but could this be the beginning of a more complete PIP functionality, whereas this feature was completely absent until now?... That would be great!

I am shouting for six months now, that EPG is below competition to other TVs.
I am not sure that philips has understood the rage of customers, who have bought such an expensive TV, and found so BASIC features missing...
I am sure they have seen the drop in TV sales for 2010 according to what they expected. But I am not sure they have understood why, they are not reading the messages current owners are sending...

Philips needs to listen
Dear Petasis, I couldn't agree more with you!
This post of mine in relation to the 3d
http://www.supportforum.philips.com/...=3409#post3409
shows that I am a very loyal customer of Philips with a very influential opinion due to my profession.
If one of the most loyal customers of Philips is considering to stop buying from Philips and stop recommending, how does that equate to the bigger picture of sales for Philips?
I am disappointed with the performance of this very expensive EISA awarded TV (46PFL9705) due to the following reasons:
1) 3D performance is horrendous
2) EPG support is extremely poor (not just for Greece, as you correctly stated, but in more countries too)
3) The backlights are flickering like Christmas lights when a scene is dim (making the picture look like a joke)
4) MPEG noise reduction is creating banding effects (so I am forced to have noise reduction to 'off')
Now, for a TV brand that excels in innovation, signal processing and is known for it's picture quality, the above points are enough to put me off of Philips for good.
Moderator, I have asked for a reply from Philips in regards to the 3d performance. So far I have received none!
I suggest that Philips lets us know what problems are being worked on so that we know that we are being heard and that there is some hope.
Please, apart from the very welcomed list of what's to be fixed in the next firmware, provide us with a list of known bugs/issues that you are or will be working on and let us know that you are aware of them and that you are indeed working on them.
Please listen to the pulse of your loyal base and respond in a correct manner.
If you loose your loyal base and we turn our back, then how do you not expect your sales to plunge?
We are the ones that recommend you on!
This is my last request and I hope that you will listen.
Moderator, please forward my posts (this one and the one in relation to the 3d) to your management and your marketers and I am awaiting for your reply.
Regards,
GeorgeLast edited by gad; 02-21-2011 at 06:00 PM.
