VIOP855 no Skype contacts after V66.26/Skype 1.10.847 firmware upgrade
After installing the latest firmware update V66.26/Skype 1.10.847
the phone no longer displays my skype contacts.
I have tried resetting the phone, changing the skype status etc as
stated in the other various discussion but nothing seems to help.
Does any one else have this problem ?
What is the procedure for raising the issue with Philips ?

Yes, make sure
1) the contact in your PC version Skype is normal.
2) you can login successfully. You can try log out and log in again.
3) Change status - from online to away. Just have a try.
4) If possible, can you try on another Skype account?

When viewed from a PC [windows/linux/ipod] contact information is displayed correctly.
I can still successfully login from [windows/linux/ipod]
I can change the phones Skype status and it is correctly reflected.
I have not tried this - I will attempt it tonight when I return home.

I don't believe so as the phone has been working quite happily for the last 2 years with the same account, and then one day after the upgrade - no contact book. As my Skype contract is associated with this account I can not just change user or I would. Without the contact list it makes the phone pretty useless for outgoing calls.

Dear user,
I have checked with our engineer - we have one known case before. Our observation is that , this is caused by the SKYPE connectivity/ or server issue. Normally contact list recovers after sometime.
We cannot help much here but to refer you to check with Skype. Sorry for inconvenience caused to you.
Kind regards,

This is a very old issue. The issue is pushed back and forth between Skype and Philips - you can find the same posts on the Skype forum and they are obviously fingerprinting to Philips.
The only problem is the customer who was stupid enough to buy the product in the first place (yes, we do actually pay your salary with our money).
There is only on known solution to this problem. I have posted a detailed description on the Skype forum.
Downgrade the version. Never accept any upgrades anymore. When you downgrade, all your contacts are back - miracle !!!
If you upgrade, your contacts will disappear after a few days or weeks and of course it's noone's fault again.
This is repeatable and anyone can actually try this. I am somehow sure this is only related to a small percentage of users, as they still manage to sell the product somehow. Maybe it's because we have been using Skype since day one and there is some strange information on the contacts, that cause the issue. But I will NOT reconnect hundreds of contacts - no way. I expect them to fix it. It is repeatable and the problem occurs with multiple users. This is a fault/bug in the system. Period.Last edited by Felix.Pahl; 12-13-2012 at 10:33 AM.

Brand new Voip855 - no Skype contacts - useless brick
I received my brand new Philips Voip855 "Skype" phone few days ago. I was stupid enough to buy it before doing a proper research and under the impression that it actually supports Skype (which it obviously doesn't).
It came with firmware version V66.26 / 1.10.847 and - guess what - after signing in none of my contacts are displayed. Tried several resets as describe by Felix Pahl but it doesn't "revert to old firmware version" as it was delivered with the new version.
I guess I just bought a useless brick with two handsets and a price tag of approx 150 EUR. It seems a proven solution is a firmware downgrade so why on earth doesn't Philips provide us with the instructions and old firmware????? I'm an IT guy so I wouldn't mind using telnet, SSH, WinSCP, Putty or whatever it takes. Come on Philips - you can do better than this!
