Playing files through other devices, but "file format not supported" when stand alone

Have had no problems with the RaGa for the last 2 years playing downloaded mp3 files. Since the start of November, suddenly it's telling me "no songs found", but they are listed in the music folder in "folder view" When selecting the files on the RaGa through the Asus transformer they play with no problems, but when the RaGa is disconnected from the transformer it doesn't play them, and when they are selected in the "folder view" error message reads "file format not supported" These files are bog standard .mp3 files. Any ideas?

suggest you try to format / repair your player...
back up the files that you have so that you can drag and drop into the player again after the format/repair.
