@21_9_78
You have noticed correctly - since 14.99 picture processing have changed and you have to adjust your settings. In general you have to lower your brightness and backlight. For more details see the relevant threads about 14.99 and 14.101 FWs.

Hi all,
since the local dimming problem (grey "black" bars on the left/right with 16:9 content on 21:9 or 4:3 content on 16:9) is still present with firmware 14.104, I kindly ask all users which have a 9000 series TV to test the following images: http://sdrv.ms/VMvKTX
Maybe someone has really good video equipment and can make a video of the local dimming problem.
If you can confirm, please also use the feedback-template-thread in the subforum to report this!

@Toengel
Problem with grey "black" bars on 2011 9000 series is present since 14.99 FW was introduced as we have discussed together with you. "Local dimming" have been turned more into "Global Dimming", which is not what I paid for when buying 52" 9606.
Philips position is(I understand it): local dimming is IMPROVED after 14.98, we wont change it back.
I am going back to 14.98 coming days.

Hi all,
if Philips had the problem with the faulty local dimming when Paltinum can solve, it would have been solved long ago.
Since that did not happen, the local dimming problem will never be fixed.

Not necessarily true. If Philips doesn't consider the problem with local dimming on the 2011 TV models as a major issue or a priority issue nothing will happen. Doesn't mean it can be solved as I read that the local dimming worked fine in the 2010 models (at least in 58PFL9955).
So there is hope but we you have to get Philips in seeing it as a priority issue.

Hi bluevoice,
you can gloss over everything, do not mean any harm. Unfortunately, it is so that the local dimming since the beginning of this unit does not operate. Meanwhile, the device is "end of life" and a successor will not be.
It just takes too long it is still a functioning local dimming for the Platinum.
I was redeemed himself with a fix, because I self own the Platinum.
But logic and my mind tells mesthere is nothing more to except in this direction.
The previous Fiemwareupdates give me unfortunately right.

Hi Toengel,
how can you shoot the pictorial?
There are already plenty of film on You Tube because of lightning in the picture caused by local dimming. It has brought nothing except the Council of Philips support to a user ... Quote:
"when the image flashes please turn off the local dimming"
And that with a Direct LCD / LED (local dimming) device ... without words.
You've got such a close contact with Philips ... I think it would be the best and fastest when you go to Philips and the engineers on site zeigst (like a three year old child) then Philips would talk to you and answer stand.

Hi All
Since yesterday my 46PFL9706 has begun behaving badly. Every 10ish minutes the sound would drop and the ambilight would flash - it would do this two times then the picture would black out completely and the TV seemed to reset (without the usual boot procedure). After messing about with settings and devices for an hour I found that the problem disappeared if i disconnected the TV from my wifi network. I have tested and checked my router and there are no issues with my setup. When I turned the TV on this morning it reconnected to the wifi and the problem came straight back - wifi off and problem solved. Any ideas out there?? i have had the latest firmware installed from the day it was released. I haven't updated the standby software as that seems to be targeted at EasyLink issues.
Really annoying , i nearly had to get my 46pfl9705 out of the garage (which drove me mad for months with issues). One last thing - the static crack noise I had on my 9705 is also present on the 9706 intermittently.

I myself got the 32PFL9606 is it wise to upgrade to this firmware because i readed allot of negative things with that software i am now using v0.14.99.0 do u guys recommed the newer firmware over this older one ?
Or shall i just keep this firmware and wait for another firmware with lesser negative things ?
Edit: i just did the firmware the picture is to bright somehow :s and the sharpness is lesser now then before how is this possible ?
There,s more light in the panel now or something like that, a bit greasy looking the sharpness is much lesser then with v.0.14.99
This is realy some bad support from philips [again] this is also the last time i buy a philips tv my next tv will be a samsung.Last edited by Michiel1986; 01-12-2013 at 12:44 PM.

After the last firmware upgrade on the Philips 50PFL7956H, the tv shows the no video signal when I choose the BDP7600. This BDP is connected via HDMI through an Onkyo receiver HTR 548 and used to work fine before the update. Checked cables, inputs,... I think it is something with the handshake prtocol but I can't reset it. Tried everything, disconnecting from mains, install firmware again and again. No Luck. I want to try a downgrade of the firmware to the previous version but can't find it on the internet anymore.
