Expectations on BDP5200 (subtitle)
Hi All,
As i told before; my english is not good enough. Sorry for that from now.
I used DVP720SA and DVP5990 players before. And These has many functions in subtitle mode.
Example;
-you can change the color of subs
-you can change the positions of subs (up and down)
-you can change the fonts
-you can change the size
-you can put a black ribbon on sub's back (for hardsubs)
But i don't see any function of these on BDP5200
Dear moderator, do you think or have ideas for work on subtitles? We will be very happy, at least if you say "possible"
..
PS: I can send firmware (bin) files of DVP720SA and DVP5990 (to maybe give idea)
Thank you for understanding.

Didnt know DVP5990 had so good customization for subtitles.
I have DVP5960 and it dont have any subtitle settings, but still looks a bit better than with 5200.
Personally i would greatly appreciate more subtitle options!
Like i just wrote few days a go:

Hopefully the developement team has time to include some new subtitle features, soon of course
Edit: what i could use the most is even 1 more black pixel to the font border. Very hard to read if there is something white on the screen.Last edited by Luth; 05-24-2012 at 07:00 PM.

I own a DVP 5990 too, and there was a mod firmware (not the standard fw from philips), which gives some extra functions like the subtitle changing or the time search in avi files.
So i think djmaster use this mod fw.

Dear all,
Thanks a lot for voicing out your wish here.
For this, we will pass to the development team and let them do a feasibility study. Hopefully, this can be transformed to future product improvement. Thanks.
Kind regards,

Of course the more we have choises the better.
Any extra font option for .srt/.sub subs would really make a huge improvement.
Even one extra setting, normal/bigger font, a pixel more for the border, little tighter font spacing. All of those would improve readability. Or some other option. Please give us something : )
On a solid dark background the current font works great.
But even a slightly more complex scene and the font is barely readable.
So watching a movie really starts to annoy since you need to fully concentrate to read the text.
Im icluding here few pictures ive taken. I tried to make them look as much as possible on how they look from a normal viewing distance.

Edit. Why this is so important?
Making the best possible product to use is always important.
Personally I only use this player to watch .mp4/.mkv/and .avis, with subs.
And im sure im not alone.
P.s. If there is any beta firmware for this id be happy to help out by testing it.Last edited by Luth; 07-19-2012 at 12:27 AM.

We are still waiting for these functions
please try to work on it. Cause we don't use dvd or bluray only with this item.
