Songbird unable to update superslow sa4rga04k/94

I BROUGHT THIS MP3 PLAYER YESTERDAY AND REGRETTED THE DECISIONS IMMEDIATELY, AS THE PLAYER IS SUPER SLOW. I THOUGHT, MAYBE, BY UPDATING THE FIRMWARE WOULD RECTIFY THE PROBLEM, BUT SONGBIRD(LATEST VERSION) WAS UNABLE TO UPDATE, AND GAVE ERROR REGARDING PROBLEM WITH CONNECTIVITY. PLEASE PROVIDE ME THE FIX FOR SONGBIRD OR ELSE THE UPDATED FIRMWARE FILE SO I COULD INSTALL IT MANUALLY.

    Dear ARYANDRA,

This issue is reported a few weeks before and we have resolved that by that time. However, this server issue seems to have rolled back. We are now working with software team to address this issue.

Thanks for your patience whilst we are looking into this issue.

    Best regards,

I have GoGear Raga 2gb SA4RGA02PN/12 (I'm thinking I read this issue only came up on NON/12 devices, that is not so) and I am having the same error message.

FYI - I am not trying to 'update' my device...I am trying to REPAIR it and restore it to factory settings.

A problem occurred and the device no longer allowed me to view in 'file mode' the separate files, so I could not get to the settings file. It still played all the music fine, but, I couldn't separate anything by file and couldn't make adjustments in the settings. STILL was more than willing to lose the music to correct the problem.

SO following 'troubleshoot' problems directions, I used songbird to FORMAT my device, which not only wiped clean all the music, the only 3 files left on there are two icon files and autorun.inf

I just bought this MP3 player one month ago at a cost of 350 swedish kronas which is not cheap for such a tiny gadget that doesn't even have a clip on it, you have to either hold it in your hand or put it in your pocket (which by the way also causes problems with screen blackouts related to body heat-once the screen is black, you can't even turn it off until it reappears). I think that's about $53 bucks, things cost more in Sweden because there's a 25% tax on everything.

I actually chose this device over another cheaper device that had a clip, because, frankly I'm originally from the States and I like familiar brands that I would always trust, and I didn't want to deal with products that don't work right.

What am I supposed to do now?

It will not restore factory settings or repair if it can't 'check for updates'.

While I understand the logic of 'checking for updates' during a repair or restore function, isn't there any setup file that could be downloaded separately so the device will FUNCTION or any workaround so the system doesn't bother checking for updates, but just instead restores the old original factory settings?

If not, the thing is now simply a 50 dollar piece of recycling plastic, because I'm a week over the 'return' policy of the store I purchased the item from around the first of August.

I have been working on this problem for days and days and only just now discovered that this is a continuing issue with this device, which I purchased after this problem was KNOWN, right?

I'm very tired, upset and frustrated by this turn of events, and I can't afford a new device now - even the cheaper one.

For mental sanity I really truly need to be able to listen to music while I walk outside. It's part a specific 'grief therapy' set up with a trauma counselor following the loss of my only child.

I hope you understand I am not trying to just complain, I am not raging.
I'm actually having a very hard time dealing with ANY kind of problem that requires any amount of patience or focus; or dealing with people or companies; following instructions or just DOING anything. I'm having a hard time just existing; so dealing with an issue that most would find irritating or aggravating, but in the end-forgettable, suddenly feels like some kind of soul crushing obstacle or 'sign' that I should just ball up on the couch and stay there.

The last moderator comment on this issue was 26 days ago. Does that mean, there ARE no signs that this issue will be resolved at all?

I also just recently bought a GoGear and am unable to update the firmware. I did notice that the super slow response seems to have something to do with long file names. It's a shame that I can't update because this player looks pretty promising and sounds great, and the battery seems to be holding up. The last good player I bought was an RCA, and since then I've had bad luck with Hipstreet(music stops when you search for files), Sylvana or something(the battery power was drained after only a few hours), and Colby which just blew up a few days ago. Even without the firmware update this thing is pretty good. I suppose I can shorten some file names to make things go faster, but it irks me that I can't update the firmware. Of course I'm using Windows 7. If we were somehow able to get a hold of the actual file, maybe it might work. Oh, wonder where the servers are located? Perhaps either some sort of restriction was put in place or some other unforseeable thing might be affecting it.

I just bought a Raga and it very slow, so slow that i cant even use it properly. It is annoying and i think i will return it.

Since i cant update with songbird (latest songbird version, says i have the latest firmware 1.11 ) i might give up. Too bad, for 50 euros i cand find something better. I also have an older mp3 player from Philips, same amount of money, with bigger screen but that one works flawlessly.
