no signal on HDMI
Hi,
I have a problem with my BDP8000 since yesterday. We tried playing a 3D blue ray and it didn't identifiy my philips 42pfl6057 as 3D compatible (through a Onkyo 3D enabled Receiver TX-SR608). So I updated BDP8000 firmware to 1.63, but still no luck. So I tried connecting it directly to the TV via HDMI, and then didn't get any signal at all (not even the menu screen). So rewired back through the receiver, and also no signal anymore. Changed cable and still no signal.
I do get a signal out of the analogue out (Composite), but nothing out of the HDMI out. When I boot up I do get the initial philips start screen over HDMI, but the moment the menu should show, everything goes blank and receiver / TV show only a "no signal" message.
I already did a reset to standard Settings and various HDMI resolutions without look.
Any idea what would cause this or any suggestions what else I could try?
I am afraid it is a broken hardware (the player is just 2 years old).
Thanks and happy holidays!
Oliver

Hi, please try to connect your BDP to a different TV to rule out if the problem comes from your TV or not.
Also try a different HDMI input on your TV if you have not already tried this.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I tried it with a second TV, but same thing.
So today I actually went to the dealer where I bought it 2 years ago, and he tried it in the shop, with same result (no picture on HDMI) ... He also found it strange that the start screen is visible, and only when the menu should Show up, it goes black - would think if the HDMI Hardware is broken there would be no signal at all.
The dealer will now contact his Philips representative first thing in the new year - I am afraid we will have to send it in (which means no 3D for another few weeks). Let's see ...
Thanks and best regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
just the same problem here!
HDMI stopped working AND the machine is not running BlueRay anymore ("HDCP-error"). Machine is two years old now. All my approaches to solutions showed significant quality problems with that machine:
1) Hardware: The sticker on the machine says it is a BDP7500 2/12, but the system on the screen says it is a BDP 8000 /12!
2) Software: System is running on Version 1.53. The update to 1.63 does not work, neither through USB nor through Internet direct connection - and for none of the systems mentioned under (1).
3) Testing DVD: Different HDMI cables and ports did not solve the problem. But using the yellow chinch brings a picture, using the optical audio out gets me the sound, so the DVD-videos are read properly.
4) Testing BlueRays: Disks starts running, the display shows "Home", than "Play", and after seconds it stops and ejects the disk. I tried several disks, it happened all the same. The display show a "HDCP error".
I guess it is a software problem, since HDMI and BlueRay stopped working at the same time.
This ruined my sunday family video evening - I am pretty upset and will contact the Philips Hotline tomorrow morning first things in the morning....will keep you posted.

Hi Bodo,
Interesting, at least seems I am not allone. Actually your's sounds even worse than what I have.
(I can still play blue rays , but not over HDMI - only via analogue signals ).
Was it a 3D blue ray you tried to play (because that was the last we tried to play and then it happened)?
Hope to get some feedback from the dealer and Philips next year (next week).
Best regards,
Oliver

Getting BDP 7500 running again on HDCP-error
So here are my hints for getting things running again.
1) Disconnent BlueRay Player AND TV from power (not only turn off, but pull the plug!)
2) Wait 10 Minutes and turn back on.
3) Access Menu of the BlueRay Player and reset the local memory (see on-screen menu)
-> If you cannot see any picture through HDMI, please use a chinch-connection for getting a picture
4) Unhook the Internet (Ethernet-) cable. BD-Live causes in case of slow connection the BlueRayPlayer to stop working without telling you the reason.
When you watched the movie without BD-Live through HDMI, turn BD-LIve on - and see for yourself if the difference is worth the trouble it might cause....
This trouble was caused by the "Prometheus"-BlueRay, the solution took me two hours and a half a divorce.
Have fun,
Bodo
