DCB852 no longer playing CDs correctly
Not so much a question of 'no longer'. It never did and never will do.
This product does not play gapless CDs correctly. Any disc such as Dark Side of the Moon, any opera disc, any 'Live Concert' disc that has a continuous audio will give you a very noticeable silent gap between tracks. Hardly appropriate for a system costing well over £200. Even my cheapie CD player handles these type of discs seamlessly.
Philips claim that it is the fault of the CD manufacturers. This is errant nonsense. We have 7 or 8 other CD playing devices in our home and cars. All play gapless CDs perfectly and without any pause. Even including a Philips CD of the opera Pique Dame!Last edited by countryman; 02-19-2013 at 08:09 AM. Reason: Update
