BDP7500BL not starting up

After playing some Christmas CDs and DVD/BluRay discs this week the player has now for the first time frozen on startup. On pressing the power button to start up the button blinks red three times then Philips appears in the display staying there continuously. The touch sensitive buttons are also lighted but do nothing. Although the Tv is on it does not recognize or see the BluRay player as available. Does anyone know what this problem may be?
The only button to react is the power button which will power down the unit after a few seconds. Unplugging the unit does not fix it. Not sure what to do since I can't even get to a home screen to diagnose further.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi Martin,

Leave it unplugged for some minutes and try again. If it starts up then make sure latest firmware is installed etc... Also if and when possible maybe try with a different TV

Thanks for the reply but it did not work. I even left it unplugged for half a day before retrying and no results. After plugging back in and turning on the BR player gets warm after a while but I can't tell if this is abnormally so or not.
Do you have any other suggestions or can you name a location, in Zuid Holland, i can bring/send the unit to get checked?
