HDMI ARC connection 42PFL7406H/12 and HTS9241/12
hi,
I tried to connect my new Philips Home Cinema HTS9241/12 to my 42PFL7406H/12 TV. I have used the HDMI ARC connector of my TV and both the TV as Home Cinema have the latest software versions. When connecting I double checked the HDMI settings of both the TV and HTS Home cinema.
However when I want to use the HTS Home Cinema the TV says it can't find the external amplifier and keeps using the TV speakers. When I force the HTS Home Cinema to find a HDMI device is says he can't find one althoug the TV is connected and powered. Strangly enough when I play a DVD in my Home Cinema the image is working OK but the sounds is comming from the TV Speakers.

Current FW and current Standby FW installed?
Do you have a HTS icon in your home menu?
Can you control your HTS with the TV remote(should be if easylink is enabled and working)?
If easylink is not working but enabled, try to bring your tv and HTS into standby. Wait a bit until the tv is really Off. Than start the HTS System. Usually the HTS system should turn on your TV, and your tv switches to the HTS. from this point on Easylink works for a limited time frame.
Good luck.
PS:
Please look out for the HDMI ARC and Toslink bug, wich makes multichannel Dolby and DTS audio unusable on the HTS when it gets passed thrue the TV to HDMI (ARC) or Toslink on all 2011 and 2012 TV Models.
Complain about it if you recognize it.

hi doener
many thanks for your replay, I followed your advise and powered down both the TV as HTS. After restarting the TV menu was showing the HTS equipment and I was readyt to complete the installation. So it seems that although the easylink was enabled it was not working 100% correctly.
Evertyhing is working fine now and I am happy with the sound&vision!
