Connecting a speaker to tv - no ouput unless I go through satellite box

    Hi

Hoping I might get some help here. I have a 42pfl7606h/12

At Xmas I got a bluetooth speaker (Creative D200) which I also wanted to connect to my TV to add a little more power

On the advice of the retailer he gave me a cable which on one side has an AUX-IN connection for the speaker itself, and on the other has a red and grey connectors which he told me to connect to the TV. This I have done, but no sound resulting.

If I connect the same cables to my digital box instead of the TV i do get output but that's not ideal setup for me.

Do I have to configure the TV in some way to tell it to use the creative speaker rather than the standard TV speakers? Or some other reason why it wouldnt be working?

    Thanks in advance

    Dear errigal,

I have the older one TV set 7605h/12 but I assume that they are very similar. At my set I use the headphone output to connect my external speaker (in my case it's an amplifier).
The most TV's have a Cinch analog audio output so your retailer is right in most cases, but philips's TV are a bit different. The headphone out is also on the backside (at my TV) and also what you call an AUX connector - at least I assume this. In Germany we call such connectors "Klinke"; leo translation is "phono/stereo jack". So you need a AUX to phono jack cable, but be aware that there are different diameters for such connectors available, so have a look at your manuals to be sure to take the right one. Such cables are available at each consumer electronic market.

    regards bta

That's interesting (also a bit annoying but not your fault).

Any idea why Philips TVs are different in this regard. I would have thought this was a fairly standard connection.

Anyone from UK/Ire able to provide guidance on what specific cable I might need?

    Thanks for your help
    A.

    Hi again,

    look at this
    http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowA...aspx?sid=87773
At the figure you see the cable you need as "sold separately".

    and this
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/c...text=headphone

I assume you connect your cable on Ext 2: "R" an "L" according to the link, but these are TV's inputs!; you need a TVs output like the "HEADPHONES" - At my TV set this works perfect with Headphones connected to the AUX-Input of my HiFi amplifier.

Hopefully you will find a solution
    regards bta

I bought a 3.5mm Stereo Male Jack to Jack Cable Lead Audio from ebay for a few euro thinking that would solve my problem - but still no audio output coming through the speaker

I connected one end to the headphone "out" on the tv, and one to the aux "in" on the speaker.

Is this still the wrong cable?

    Hi errigal,

sorry, I just recognized your latest post right now.
Have you solved your problem? - because the cable and connection you describe should work.

    Regards

My error - it worked - it was just the cable was a little faulty and once it was replaced it worked fine.

    Thank you
